WACMHC plays an active role at the state and federal levels in advocating for policies and laws that benefit community health centers (CHCs) and their patients.
At a state level, we are looking to protect existing health care safety net programs that ensure access to care for hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians by examining every available revenue option. We also advocate for the expansion of Medicaid to ensure access to comprehensive health coverage for Washingtonians at or below 138% of federal poverty.
At the federal level, we support efforts to enhance primary care workforce; increase operational grants from the Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); and sustain Medicaid funding and services.
We work to protect and expand access to care and provide options for the uninsured and underserved. We closely coordinate all public policy and advocacy activities with the Community Health Network of Washington (CHNW).
