2016 Legislative Summary

Working under the pressure of a short-session timeline, Washington’s community health centers leveraged their grassroots energy, lobbying capacity, and media savvy to protect the health care safety net. While our health professional loan repayment and behavioral health integration priorities were not funded in the final budget, CHCs successfully advocated to keep Medicaid Blind & Disabled program clients in managed care and passed legislation to clarify medical assistants’ scope of practice.
